Playlist Ideas for Solo Hikes

Although it is rather dangerous to go on solo hikes, and many people will tell you that it's a bad idea; It's truly adventure at it's best!

With the prevalence of iPods these days, it would be silly to hike alone without one. Below is my current playlist for solo hikes. I am into a lot of heavy metal and other forms of hard rock, but I think you will find some of these choices to be quite motivating on your way up the mountain of your choice:.

The Acacia Strain - JFC
Rush - Tom Sawyer
Slayer - Angel of Death
Anterrabe - How Joey Got His Groove Back
Every Time I Die: Ebolorama
Nonpoint - What A Day
Biohazard - Resist
Biohazard - Switchback
Sevendust - Waffle
Nothingface - Grinning

If you like really aggressive music that will virtually propel you to the summit of any mountain, big or small, I would recommend you give these songs a home in your iPod.

  1. When I'm hiking alone someplace super scenic I often listen to classical music. Sounds corny, I know, but it can lead to some emotionally peaceful moments for me.

    1. I do appreciate classical music. I listen to it when I work in my office. Next time I hike I will bring some Igor Stravinsky when I hit the summit!

  2. I love listening to new age music while hiking alone to scenic places as well. Since nature is more peaceful, I prefer enjoying peaceful music like Enya, Vangelis, Mark Isham, Ray, etc

Aggressive music can be a great factor in a motivated hike just like working out. Both are proven to be beneficial but to each his or her own.

    1. It seems to work that way. I always need a little extra kick because I have to hump camera gear around with me often. New age certainly has it's place.

    1. It's certainly been a while! I regretfully have been lax with this due to some things that came up in my life over the last few years. I usually write my hikes in my journal. I will post some retro hikes in the coming days. I am healthy again and ready for more. Lyme disease is a real problem.
